The International Olympic committee (IOC) has partnered with leading online gambling operator Betfair to ensure that match fixing and any sort of cheating and corruption will not be an issue in the upcoming summer Olympic games in London.
Both IOC and Betfair will be sharing customer and transactional data with each other in an attempt to cherry pick irregularities in the games. Betfair will also provide its proprietary software and dedicate an integrity team to ensure online betting is fair and correct. Bet24's just announced the expansion of its mobile app for the iOS platform to 14 new countries.
Bet24's real money wagering app for iOS and Android were initially launched last December in the UK, France, and Austria. This week, the betting company included Switzerland, Sweden, Greece, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Cyprus, Latvia, Belgium , Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia in the list of countries where the iOS app is available for download. Bet24 decided to focus on the iOS platform for their expansion citing significant spending on wagering from iOS users. A three-member Iowa Senate sub-committee recently approved the Senate Study Bill 3164 (SB 3164), a bill that could legalize online poker in the state of Iowa.
The bill entitled, Act authorizing licensees authorized to conduct gambling games on an excursion boat, gambling structure, or racetrack enclosure to operate internet wagering on poker and making penalties applicable., was approved last Monday by a committee spearheaded by non-other than online poker bill sponsor Senator Jeff Danielson. Earlier this week, gambling operator Boyd Gaming Corporation released its fourth quarter and year end results for 2011.
The company's Q4 revenue rose 10 percent to $606.7 million in Q4 2011, up from $551.9 million the previous year. Higher revenue in Boyd's regional casinos helped the company in the fourth quarter as well as better performance from its gambling, food and drinks, and lodging businesses. Read More

According to online news website Politico, American politicians have reached a conclusion regarding the payroll tax and unemployment benefits extension legislation and online poker will not be included.
Last week, a senior staff member reportedly said that online poker in the federal level was not included in the payroll and unemployment bills due to the wide opposition from Indian tribes and state lotteries. A bipartisan House and Senate committee still needs to approve the deal that was reached last week, but the staff member said that still pushing for online poker will be opposed by a lot of people in Washington. According to the report released by the Nevada Gaming Control Board last Thursday, Las Vegas casinos posted an increase in revenue for the second straight year.
Nevada land-based casinos raked in $10.7 billion in 2011, a 2.8 percent increase from 2010 and the highest annual revenue jump since 2007.
Revenues in the the Las Vegas strip were at $6.068 billion, a 5.1 percent increase from the previous year. 2011 was the first time Vegas strip casinos exceeded the $6 billion revenue mark since 2008. Read More

The renowned Remote Gambling Association (RGA) filed a new complaint to the European Commission regarding Greece's new gambling tax policies. The RGA argues that active and licensed gambling operators should not be made to pay taxes retrospectively on revenues from Greece from January 1 2010 until the time respective licenses were awarded.
The RGA's complaint, which is co-signed by big-name operators such as Betfiar, William Hill, and bet365, aims to nullify the Ministerial Decision to Introduce retrospective gross gambling revenue tax and a tax on customer's winnings.
